Welcome to the online course, SCI 7: Human Body Systems! I am your instructor for this course and I am looking forward to working with you. The purpose of this course is to gain an understanding of the structures and functions for each system within the human body and provide an explanation of how they work together to support the essential life functions of the body. The required e-text for this course can be found on Pearson Realize and your student membership is included in your registration to this course. Account Login information will be provided by myself in the following weeks after the semester has begun.
This course will provide an opportunity for you to participate in individual and interactive activities. The assignments provided within this course is designed for individual completion by learners, with the exception of discussion forums. However, I want to make you aware that you are not required, nor recommended, to work independently. In fact, I encourage you to seek out, communicate, and collaborate with your fellow classmates as must as possible and of course, more than the required amount indicated in forum discussions.
You are strongly encouraged to read the orientation materials provided. The materials include important information for the first week of the course, a critical part of the course to set the tone for the remainder of the time here. One area you need to pay very close attention to are the activity directions in order for you to be aware of what must be completed to signify as your participation within this course. If participation requirements are not met within the specified deadline, absences must be reports to the appropriate officials.
Moodle will be the “main headquarters” for this course, as you will submit assignments, participate in discussions, and complete assessments. For further knowledge of the course layout and materials, you are urged to complete the activities detailed below or they can be viewed by logging into the course’s Moodle site, then locate and access the module lesson created for this orientation.
